Episode 0: A brief introduction
From writing a book about my family's skeletons in the closet to heartfelt emails from strangers – this is the prologue to Not Applicable.
Episode 1: Nina Salomons – Virtual Reality and the Democratisation of Storytelling
Nina Salomons is currently leading the VR Diversity Initiative, a not for profit organisation that provides free workshops to underrepresented groups. We talk about Virtual Reality for good, growing up in Africa, male gamer trolls and how VR will influence the way we will tell stories in the future.
Episode 2: Lennie Varvarides – Dyslexia as a Creative Superpower
What if we started seeing and calling 'disabilities' superpowers? Lennie Varvarides is a dyslexic film maker, writer and all round creative mastermind. We talk about how she grew up thinking there was something seriously wrong with her brain and how attending Camberwell College of Art her ways of seeing herself and she started to empower others along the way.
Episode 3: Weronika Rafa – Illustration as a form of Personal Protest
How can I use my skills to become an agent for change? Weronika Rafa is a polish graphic designer and illustrator who uses her online platform to comment on controversial topics such as abortion and gender stereotypes. This has earned her a big following as well as a lot of hate. She tells us how she handles trolls and inappropriate behaviour.
Episode 4: Gemma Germains – Work Hard, Be Nice to People and Have Rich Parents
In an industry in which unpaid internships and extortionate education fees are the norm, privilege is a given. Tow years ago Gemma Germains published her article 'Work hard, be nice to people and have rich parents' and kicked off a wider discussion on who can actually afford to work in the creative industries. We talk about how she was being made aware of her own privilege and what led her to write this article as well as her very unconventional career path.
